Forging our future
Putting climate solutions to work.Learn more
Heavy industry is the foundation of modern society. We need materials like cement, steel and aluminum more than ever to rebuild our bridges and roads, to construct wind and solar projects, and to manufacture electric vehicles and heat pumps that will undergird our future.
But industry needs a new social contract with America. For all the good industrial progress brings, it also causes a lot of harm. It threatens our climate, reinforces environmental racism, it’s wasteful, and it has left workers and communities behind when convenient to industry’s bottom line. What’s more, our communities, natural environment and our economy are under threat by a “take-make-waste” economy. We waste most of our waste, and we emit an extraordinary amount of pollution through harmful production and disposal, including methane from organics decomposition in landfills.
Addressing this challenge, and the opportunity it presents, is why Industrious Labs exists. With our partners, we’re reimagining the industrial sector as not only a source of good union jobs, but a climate solution where we make things responsibly, prioritize waste reduction, reuse, repair, remanufacture, and recycle. To do this we will have to change how our stuff is made and what we do with it when we are done with it. We see an America that is known again as a country of industry, where the best quality and greenest materials are made with American labor. In the future we build together, industry is a good neighbor to communities, the anchor of a healthy regenerative economy, and leading the world in addressing climate change.

Today, industry contributes 40% of global greenhouse gas emissions, making it the largest source of climate pollution.
Our staff is comprised of leaders from the climate movement, labor, government, clean tech and more: analysts, campaign directors, communicators, and policy experts. We’ve worked to retire coal and gas plants, scaled up electric trucks and heat pumps, and fought for racial justice, women’s rights, parental leave, and more.
We are looking for passionate, skilled team players who want to work with us to reinvent industry, create jobs and protect the climate.
Big change is possible
We will push boundaries and try new things, knowing that anything that’s never been done before will seem impossible at first. We develop strategies based on our assessment of the world as it is, not as we wish it would be.Over the course of our work, we will experience victories great and small, and defeats that feel crushing in the moment. We cannot allow ourselves to be carried along by those victories nor stuck in the mire after setbacks. We approach our work with a can-do attitude, always looking for opportunities to offer solutions and new perspectives.
We take a strategic approach to results
We cannot solve our climate crisis by doing the same thing we have always done; that’s not working. We develop innovative solutions that address the intersection of climate science, justice, and the art of the possible. We don’t reuse the same campaigning playbook; we employ the strategies that will be most effective at reaching our goals
We take a strategic approach to results
We hold industry accountable for its impact on climate. But our institutions–including industrial producers and governments that regulate them–are built on systemic injustices. Of course we can't solve this alone, but we understand that industrial policy connects to that history and thus our solutions must actively work against it. CSL is not immune to the systems of oppression that permeate our work and culture. We are aware of our identities in how we show up and how the world sees us. And we are committed to ensuring that communities most impacted by climate change have resources, access and decision-making power.
We build inclusive spaces
We are not the only ones in this fight, and we will not win when we work alone or show up believing we have all the answers. Our work builds upon the efforts and successes of others, and we continue a long tradition of collaborative change-making. We strive to make ourselves, our peers, and our partners successful and powerful in achieving our shared goals.
We practice self care and healthy lifestyles
The work to bring about a cleaner, healthier, more sustainable planet is difficult and can be challenging to manage emotionally. In order to do so and sustain our best work together, and because - above all - we are human beings, we must prioritize our whole health, including seeing our work as a piece of our whole lives rather than balanced against everything else in our lives.
Growth & Learning
We are curious, take risks, and are open to change
We have a strong hypothesis about what will improve our climate, and we’re constantly working, testing, experimenting to achieve our mission. Along the way, we improve collaboration, strengthen our skills, and deepen our knowledge. Humility and a capacity for growth are critical ingredients to our success-we know there is much we can learn from each other, our partners, and the communities we work with
